Advocating for our YMCA mission at the local, state and national level is vital to our work. Thanks to Rep. Kathy Manning for visiting the YMCA of Greensboro in September. YMCA CEO Rhonda Anderson and team members thanked Congresswoman Manning for supporting legislation that provided funding for child care and nutrition. 

Rocky Mount Mayor Sandy Roberson and Kelvin Macklin, CEO of the Rocky Mount Housing Authority, joined Harrison Family YMCA staff and walking club members on July 15 for a walk audit in the Weeks Armstrong neighborhood to assess how safe it is to walk or wheelchair roll in the area.

Leigha S. Smith, Chief Volunteer Officer of the Board of Directors of the J. Smith Young YMCA, announced the selection of Jen Fuller-Allen as the new CEO of the J. Smith Young YMCA. Fuller-Allen will officially begin her role on June 1st, 2021 replacing the current interim CEO Billy Freeman.

YMCAs in the western part of the state are working with each other and community partners to better serve the region’s Latinx residents.
